Understanding Raw Material Magnetism

It is a common misconception that if a stainless steel hose clamp is magnetic, it is of poor quality. In truth, while austenitic stainless steels like AISI 304/316 are non-magnetic in their annealed state, the cold rolling and forming processes required to reach the proper tensile strength and hardness for structural bands introduce a magnetic field. This mechanical transformation ensures the clamp can withstand high installation torque.

The Critical Role of Screw Lubrication

To prevent galling (cold welding) between stainless steel threads under load, proper lubrication is essential. Galvanizing carbon steel screws provides natural dry lubrication. If clients request completely non-galvanized stainless steel fasteners, we apply specialized wax compounds.
