Because the currently made clamps are usually made of austenitic stainless steel such as 201, 301, 304, and 316, after heat treatment, the raw materials can be completely non-magnetic, but the raw materials used to produce the clamps must meet the hardness and tensile strength of the product itself. So the hardness and tensile strength can only be met by the cold rolling process, which requires the soft material to be rolled into a thinner cold-rolled strip. After cold-rolling, they will indeed become harder and also generate a magnetic field.

However, to achieve the necessary tensile strength and hardness for secure clamping, the material must undergo a cold-rolling process. This physical deformation transforms a portion of the austenite phase to martensite, introducing a magnetic field. This magnetism is a result of structural hardening, not poor material quality.

Spring-loaded T-bolt clamps are designed for dynamic temperature environments (like heavy vehicle cooling loops). The spring compresses and expands, absorbing thermal expansion and contraction without damaging hoses or connectors. If installed incorrectly and fully bottomed out, the spring acts as a solid spacer, losing its self-adjusting function.
How does lubrication affect screw performance on German type clamps?
Lubrication on clamp screws reduces thread friction, allowing torque to be converted into tension. Galvanized screws provide a reliable, lasting dry lubricant barrier. While wax-based lubricants on unplated stainless steel are available, they are susceptible to environmental degradation over time and during transport.
