Raw Material Magnetism Science

A common misconception is that magnetic attraction implies low-quality stainless steel. In fact, austenitic stainless steels (such as 201, 301, 304, and 316) develop magnetic properties during cold rolling. To achieve the required tensile strengths and hardness for industrial fastening torque limits, the metal strip must undergo intensive cold rolling, inducing a phase transition (austenite to martensite) which naturally yields magnetism.

The Role of Screw Lubrication
